WhatsApp announced that as of 2021 it will stop working on a few smartphones. This is due to the updates that the Facebook application was experiencing during this year.
Several smartphones do not have the ability to properly process the changes recently introduced by the instant messaging application. So, WhatsApp announced that they will not send any more updates to few devices. The smartphones that run with the Android system on which the Facebook application will stop working are:
- Samsung Galaxy S2
- Motorola Droid Razr
- LG Optimus Black
- HTC Desire.
- And for Apple devices, which use the iOS operating system, it will no longer run on the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5s versions.
WhatsApp states that this update will be able to be seen and work correctly on Android devices with operating system 4.0.3 or later and iPhone with operating system iOS9 or later. WhatsApp also indicated that other operating systems on which it recommends using the application are KaiOS 2.5.1 or later, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2 devices.
WhatsApp reminded users that if they have one of the devices suitable for the operation of the application, they can install it and register their phone number. In the iPhone, the same thing happens. In this case, the compatible phones and WhatsApp will work properly are the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPhone SE, and the latest as the iPhone 11.
Recommendations by WhatsApp
On the other hand, WhatsApp recommends that for the proper functioning of the app, Android devices have an update 4.0.3 or higher. In contrast, Apple smartphones must have at least an iOS 9 version.
Many users showed their annoyance in social networks by these measures of WhatsApp, which are considered by many restrictive. Those who have these devices will have no choice but to buy a new cell phone if they want to continue using the messaging application
