We all know Whatsapp Messenger is one of the most popular social media messaging applications. According to data offered in 2020, it has more than 2 billion active WhatsApp users around the world. And, in order to provide a seamless messaging and calling experience to its users, the Facebook-owned company is back in the news with a new round of features.
The primary objective of the whatsapp application is that the user can use it not only to write but also to send images, videos, audios, voice recordings, documents, contacts, files, and gifs but also make calls and video calls. Meanwhile, it has apps on different operating systems: iOS, Windows Phone, Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Android.
One of the facilities provided by the company is that users can talk to many people at the same time through a group chat. However, many people have found it very annoying to have to receive constant notifications because of the number of messages were sheer high. What at first glance seemed like a great idea, in many cases became a nuisance because of the accumulation of notification bubbles and sounds.
WhatsApp Group Silencing Feature Explained
Therefore, a few years ago, Whatsapp decided to include an option to silence such alerts for “8 hours”, “a week” or “a year”. But now it decided to make a radical change that many will welcome.
According to reports from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp “Mute always” feature enabled for its Beta users. The feature is self-explanatory as it essentially replaces the time limit for silencing a particular chat or group. This is a blessing in disguise for all those annoying chats that you never want to enjoy, but it would be too rude to block.
Mute Forever, the new feature for Whatsapp groups
Previously Whatsapp groups can be silenced for “8 hours”, “1 week” and “always”. In the last few hours, and with the latest beta version for Android launched by the company, it became known that they added a new alternative to silence chat groups. This allows users to cancel “forever” this style of conversation. It should be noted that the company also incorporated a new storage usage and verified business accounts will no longer be able to make calls.
Direct access to the catalog
This shortcut is precisely for the WhatsApp business. It gives users access to a company’s catalog. According to a WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp has implemented this feature in its Business application for Android and iOS. It has also launched this feature in WhatsApp Web and its desktop application.
Storage User Interface
WhatsApp has also updated its storage user interface appearance for Beta users. According to the blog, the implementation started in the previous beta version, but at that time the implementation was slow, and not many people received the redesign. With the current beta version of Android, several users are receiving the feature. And also the new storage management menu will provide a more detailed view of what is taking up space on your phone.
Improving voice and video calls
According to reports, WhatsApp is also working to hide voice and video call buttons in chats with verified company accounts. They also disappear from the contact information. These buttons are still available if you touch the profile icon in the chat and contact list. “We don’t know if this is intentional or what, but apparently the call buttons are not available for verified business accounts in chat,” the blog notes.
With this novelty, Whatsapp will bring calm to most of its users. However, in order to have it on the phone, it will have to wait for a new official update. The other option is to uninstall the application and join the testing of the beta with the relevant alternative that has the app owned by Facebook.
